Love

February 13, 2017, By: Jimmy Scruggs

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all mind and with all your strength. …Love your neighbor as yourself. Mark 12:30-31
People come to Celebrate Recovery with a wide variety of hurts, hang-ups and habits. The central theme we all share is that our lives are broken in some way and we are in need of healing. When we become honest with our struggles and admit that our lives have become unmanageable, we arrive at a turning point in our lives. We can keep doing the same old thing or we can turn to a power greater than us to help us. That power is found in Jesus and when we turn our lives and will over to God we begin to see positive changes as we work the steps of recovery. If I asked, “What is the most important thing you have learned in recovery?” Most would say it’s my relationship with God and with people. We have learned that we can’t get very far without that. What if I asked you to refine your answer, what would it be? What is it about my relationship with God and people that is most important? I would have to say it’s love. Transformation is not only seeing God as a power that can help me overcome my demons, it’s much more than that, it’s the realization that I have come to love God not because of what he does for me but because of His love for me. When we choose love over hate, resentment, anger and fear, our piece of the world becomes so much brighter and our relationships become so much better. Choose Love! Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer
