Encrypted Words

October 03, 2016, By: Jimmy Scruggs

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
I was talking with some people at CR last Friday night about the biggest lie we can tell ourselves – that we aren’t good enough for God. Sounds crazy today, but there was a time I thought that way; contrary to scripture, contrary to truth. In the middle of my hurts, habits and hang-ups I thought I had to be “presentable” before God would accept me. What I had forgotten was the truth that Jesus came to help the sick not the healthy, to help the least of us, the broken us. Have you ever felt the least us? Good, that’s Jesus specialty and he wants to help the broken you. The most “presentable” I can be with Jesus is to be honest with him right where I am in life and ask for his help. When that happens, things start to change. Those words in the bible aren’t encrypted any more by shame and guilt; you start to understand them and it starts to make sense. In those times when you feel far from God remember God is never far from you! You are only one prayer away from changing your life. Make that prayer today and be open to what God has in store for you. Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer
