Surrender Your Problems

March 30, 2020, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
Anybody out there stuck in a problem they can’t overcome? In another life, I had a problem with drinking. The more I drank, the bigger the problem. I fought it with all I had, but kept losing the battle. It got to the point that I just gave up alcohol, admitting my powerlessness to control and stop my drinking. The problem was that I falsely believed I had no way out and that  there was no solution to produce a positive change. I was helpless and hopeless and didn’t know where to go. The problem with problems is knowing where to go that can help us with our problems. All of us have problems – some small and some big. If we get stuck in the problem, the problem becomes bigger. I had to reach out and get help for my drinking problem before positive change could occur. What I learned along the way is to not give into the problem, but give the problem to God instead and let Him help me work through it. That is what Celebrate Recovery is all about. If you can’t fix the problem, there is a power greater than you that can. God doesn’t need you to help Him, but you need His help to help you. Whatever your problem(s) is/are, reach out to God and ask for his help. It’s not easy, and the journey may be hard, but with God you have a solution. Don’t just surrender to the problem, focus on surrendering your problem to God.  Dana Cramer, Celebrate Recovery/Crossroads Church CELEBRATE RECOVERY/CROSSROADS CHURCH UPDATES/REMINDERS:
