Passion for Compassion

April 10, 2017, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17
Passion Week is upon us and I can’t help but think of the amazing love and compassion that our Lord and Savior has for us. It is a time to spend time with Jesus, it doesn’t matter if you are making your first connection with him or you have been growing in faith for 50 years, Holy Week is a special time. If you want to know what Jesus has done for you, just look back and see his rescue and restoration in your life. Be humbled and grateful for his passion for compassion. Where would we be if Jesus wasn’t in our lives? I don’t have to guess, I know what hell looks like. I’ve been there and done that and I don’t ever want to go back to living my life without him. Many of us came to Celebrate Recovery with the mistaken idea that we were too far gone, that Jesus would never want to help us. But, then we realized that Jesus came to save us, help us and be in special relationship with us. His passion for compassion is endless and complete. All he asks of us is to believe! Spend some extra time with Jesus this week; in prayer, reflection, gratitude, and in his Word. Check out CR this Friday night and follow that up with an Easter service at your church. If you don’t have a church home I invite you to Easter services at Crossroads Church, let the music and the message fill your heart with love and hope. Love God, love people, Jesus first!
