My little children, I am telling you this so that you will stay away from sin. But if you sin, there is someone to plead for you before the Father. His name is Jesus Christ, the one who is all that is good and who pleases God completely. He is the one who took God’s wrath against our sins upon himself and brought us into fellowship with God; and he is the forgiveness for our sins, and not only ours but all the world’s 1 John 2: 1-2 (TLB)
How much does God love us? I can’t begin to comprehend, but what I do know is he loves us enough to die for us through Jesus. Why? Because he knows we need a Savior, we can’t make it alone. The trials of going it alone versus going through life with God have a striking similarity but totally different outcomes.
Pain and suffering is the common denominator but one path takes you farther from God and the other draws you closer to him. Some sins seem so obvious but sin can also hide under a seemingly good motive. Either way we are all flawed, nobody is perfect, we all miss the mark. But what does God do? He accepts us as we are and wants more than anything to be in a relationship with us. We are all just one step away from surrender, not just once but seven times seventy. “Jesus loves me yes I know, for the bible tells me so.”
