Light

December 19, 2016, By: Jimmy Scruggs

For the son of man came to seek and save those who are lost. Luke 19:10
The birth of Jesus in such a lowly place seems fitting to his mission of saving those who are lost. The Son of Man arrived in a world full of darkness, a world desperately needing a Savior. Shepherds were his first audience, not the rich and famous. The hope that Jesus gives the world, is that no matter where you have been or what you have done, He loves you and wants to be in a personal relationship with you. The false narrative that one must be presentable when we approach God is debunked by Jesus’s birth. That cold, damp, and dark manger was a far cry from the lights of the rich and powerful. No, we don’t need to attain a certain presentable status to come before our Lord and Savior; we just need to come as we are. There is tremendous hope in this reality, Jesus is more concerned about changing our hearts than the mistakes we have made. When we ask Jesus to shine his light on our darkness, recovery truly begins. He creates in us a repentant heart, a loving heart, a humble heart. His light can never be extinguished; it shines bright, always directing us home to Him. This Christmas week, spend some extra time with Jesus and share his love with others! Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer
