Giving Joy

August 22, 2016, By: Jimmy Scruggs

Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently, but watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6:1
I heard some wonderful messages over the weekend; the Celebrate Recovery Friday night message on “Give” and my church message on “God Is Good.” I can’t tell you how grateful and blessed I am to have CR and Church in my life and the importance of giving and joy I have found. I am hard pressed to find anyone who has experienced the CR process and doesn’t have at least an idea that giving is the heart of God. When we start focusing on giving we live out what God is putting in. Share with one another how God has brought you out of the darkness and into the light. Knowing the goodness of God is to know joy. Happiness is great and I love to experience it; but it is also fleeting, here one day and gone the next. Joy is so much different; it has staying power, one day at a time staying power that can help us push through the tough times. Joy is so strongly correlated to the goodness of God; it remains steadfast in spite of what goes on around us. God never changes, isn’t it good to know that his unchanging good is always good? It’s where joy lives. It is what you find as you grow in your faith with Christ. “Who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who renews you with steadfast love and mercy. Who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalm 103: 3-5 Thank you CR and Crossroads Church. Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer
