All Things

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
There was a time I didn’t believe this remarkable verse from Philippians. I had it backwards, I thought through my own intellect and will power I could do all things. If I needed Christ I would ask, but you know what, I rarely did. That is until my world came crashing down and when I had nowhere else to turn, then and only then, did I really surrender to God. My humble admission was that my best thinking was literally killing me, killing my relationship with my wife and family, and destroying my career. What is amazing to me is that when you think of the immense complexity of the universe, of which we can never fully understand, you will find Christ at the center of it all and he tells us that he is here for me, for you, for everyone. What does one make of that?! It tells me that even though we are but a tiny participant in the history of the world, Christ wants to be in a deep relationship with us. He loves us, strengthens us, heals us, and transforms us to do great things through Him. He challenges us to overcome a life time of pain, hurt, despair, loneliness, fear, addiction, and for some—abuse. He gives us a way out of our distressed lives when we believe in Him and follow His path. Celebrate Recovery embodies our verse for today. Through Christ we have the strength to write down a fearless and honest inventory, we can share it with others, we can give our character defects over to God and work with him daily to remove them, we can make amends and offer forgiveness, we can build and grow in our relationship with Christ, and we can live a life of service to Him. From this recovery foundation, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. May God bless you mightily this week! Dana Cramer // Celebrate Recovery at Crossroads
