Seasons

December 26, 2016, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“Come to me all you who are weary, and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28
I don’t know about you, but the day after Christmas brings a smile to my face; a little relief, some fatigue, but most importantly I am humbled by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus is the reason for the season and keeping our faith focused throughout the season can be difficult. Christmas can bring out the best and worst in us; loving people and people pleasing, family togetherness and family dysfunction, the range of emotions are significant. But, what may be more difficult is keeping our faith vibrant and growing long after Christmas is over. Keeping Jesus first in our lives is the key. It doesn’t matter what season we are in; the love of Jesus surpasses all our expectations, his hope is our lifeline in time of need, his forgiveness has created us anew. As 2017 approaches bring everything you have to Jesus, the good and the bad and be amazed at how he will change your life, one day at a time, one season at a time. “Therefore, I urge you, bothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies’ as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.” Romans 12:1 Love God, love people, Jesus first!
