We were crushed and overwhelmed, and feared we would never live through it. We felt we were doomed to die and saw how powerless we were to help ourselves; but that was good for then we put everything into the hands of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17
I don’t have to tell you it’s getting busy this time of year. The holidays are upon us and many are filled with gratitude for what we have, but more importantly for what God is doing in our lives. “I once was lost but now I’m found” -God’s Amazing Grace offered to us. Without it I would be lost. Many people come to Celebrate Recovery (and there are many more who need recovery living in our communities, attending our churches) trying to find their way home, lost or caught up in the daily struggle of survival. Some people I have met on my recovery journey come from afar; knowing Jesus had never been on their radar. Some have known Him but slipped away; feeling far from Him. Finding home is hard for those of us who had or have been weighed down by our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Finding our way home starts with surrender, honesty, and admitting our powerlessness. We can find hope in the truth that there is a power greater than us that can restore us to sanity; that is the power found in Jesus Christ. If you are feeling far from Jesus remember that you are only one prayer away from finding him, reconnecting with him and experiencing him in your life. If you are struggling, a simple honest prayer can start you on your way home. I prayed this prayer in the beginning of my recovery and it changed my life, “Jesus I can’t live my life like this anymore, will you please help me.” If you have been in recovery for a while please pray for those who are in need, there are many, and remember sometimes it is ourselves who are in need of prayer. We all need prayer! Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer
