Experiencing Christmas

December 11, 2017, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14
One of my favorite quotes from Clarence, the Angel from the movie It’s a Wonderful Life — “George, no man is a failure who has friends.” How true, friendship is vital to our well-being and no friendship is as important as the one we have with Jesus; now there is a friend who will never let you down and will love you unconditionally. But the friendships and relationships of the human kind are as imperfect as each one of us is.  This time of year can be a mixture of immense joy or it can be filled with business, anxiety, heartache and loneliness. Experiencing Christmas can be a little wild. As we enter this Christmas season, try to spend some extra time in Bible study, prayer and meditation. May you spend quality time with family and friends. Don’t forget to reach out to those in need; and if you need help reach out to your friends, don’t isolate. If you have been in CR for a while, don’t forget to do a HEART check. Ask yourself daily if you are Hurting, Exhausted, Angry, Resentful, or Tense. If you answer yes to any of these symptoms then talk it out and remember, you have the tools to get back on track. “Be honest in your estimate of yourselves… Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other…Be patient in trouble… Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honest clear through.” Romans 12:3 There is a reason why CR participation seems to peak from November through February, the holiday season isn’t so merry for some. Having a safe place to go where you are accepted and loved is so important. And even more important is finding the truth: Jesus loves you! Check out Celebrate Recovery; we are here every Friday night with great worship, teachings, testimonies and open share groups. “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends” John 15:12-14 Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer // Celebrate Recovery at Crossroads
