Thankfulness

November 25, 2019, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
It’s that time of year again; Thursday marks the holiday season with Thanksgiving and the busy rush to Christmas and New Year’s. How can we to stay grounded in the busyness of the season? First and foremost, give thanks to God our father and for Jesus our Lord and Savior. Putting Jesus first gives us the right perspective on what Thanksgiving and Christmas really mean in our lives. CR gets busy as the holidays approach and stays that way through April. That’s both fortunate and unfortunate. Fortunate that we are here to help those in need and unfortunate that this time of year brings added stress and emotional turmoil—people can spin out of control. For some it’s a time of joy and for some a time of despair and loneliness. If you know people that are struggling please help them; bring them to CR, to church or better yet, bring church to them. Share a Thanksgiving meal and remember to keep the lights on during the holidays. It wasn’t that long ago that we were struggling and needed help and at some point, we will struggle again. We need God and we need each other.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
