Priorities

January 06, 2020, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“You groped your way through that murk once, but no longer. You’re out in the open now. The bright light of Christ makes your way plain. So no more stumbling around. Get on with it! The good, the right, the true—these are the actions appropriate for daylight hours. Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it.” Ephesians 5:8-10
I don’t know about you, but setting life priorities can be frustrating. That’s why I have found CR priority lists very helpful. It is a pretty thorough process that looks at career, family, church, Christ, friendships, money, and ministry. I have done this list many times and what I ask myself is this: does my action match the priority level I have given to areas in my life? In other words, does my walk match my talk?
If I say Jesus is my number one priority, am I reading and studying his word, praying, and meditating? Am I living out what God is pouring into me in all areas of my life? Am I serving others in a healthy way? Am I trusting in Him or still trying to run the show? Repeat the questioning process for each area of your life and you will be able to set healthy and purposeful priorities. Funny thing about setting priorities, if we don’t set them someone else or life itself will, and that’s not a good thing for you or others! Jesus first! Celebrate Recovery’s take on priorities: “I would rather see a sermon than hear one any day.”
