HOW

September 23, 2019, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t. and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away… Nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.” Romans 8:38-39

We come to Celebrate Recovery broken and hurting from a wide variety of events and problems that have taken a toll on us and those we love. HOW do you begin recovery? Come to Celebrate Recovery at Crossroads Church on any Friday night and get plugged in.

The HOW of recovery starts with three powerful steps that will change your life:

Honesty: Admit that I am powerless to overcome my hurts, habits, and hang-ups; my life is unmanageable—Step 1. Remember, you can’t heal a wound by saying its not there.

Open-mindedness: Believe that a power greater than me can restore me to sanity—Step 2. One of my biggest breakthroughs in recovery came when I realized that if I couldn’t fix myself there had to be something greater than me who can fix me. There is and His name is Jesus Christ.

Willingness: Become willing to turn my life and will over to the care of God—Step 3. It sounds crazy, but sometimes we can hold back from God even though we know that we are in terrible shape. Anger, fear, and unworthiness are but a few examples of why we may have trouble turning our lives over to God. Please know that God is big enough to handle our anger. God’s perfect love drives out fear. God loves us right where we are; Jesus is proof of that. God’s grace is enough! Faith as small as a mustard seed is all that is needed to start our journey.

If you’re stuck in a hurt, habit or hang-up, try a CR 12 step group. We have a new Women’s group starting tonight (Monday, September 23).

God loves you, Jesus died for you, His spirit lives in you! Say Yes to Jesus and live Love!
