CASA

ABOUT CASA

The mission of CASA is to advocate for safe, nurturing, and permanent connections to family and community so children who have experienced abuse and neglect have the opportunity to thrive.

The mission is accomplished through two programs; Court Appointed Special Advocates and Supervised Exchange and Visitation. While CASA provides different services through each program, both programs work to ensure the safety of children in our community while providing objective documentation to help the courts determine the best interest for children. CASA does assist the courts but is not a government organization. They are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies on donations and volunteers. CASA of Larimer County serves children in the 8th Judicial District. In the 2019 judicial fiscal year, more than 600 children were involved in Dependency & Neglect cases, but due to limited funding and volunteers, CASA was only able to provide an advocate for 327 of these children.

CASA volunteers attend an introduction session and a rigorous training program prior to being qualified to be a CASA. The need is great and everyone is encouraged to join CASA as it grows to meet the needs of children recovering from abuse and neglect.
