God Doesn’t Make Junk

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139: 13-14

God doesn’t make junk! I heard that line when I first came into Recovery. I needed to hear it because I thought my life was just that – junk. Shame and guilt can do that to you. Living in unresolved conflict, in abusive relationships or with addiction can take you to the bottom quickly or slowly. It’s a hard life when you are stuck in the problem and can’t see a solution. Brokenness can take us there and keep us there if we let it.

But God says something very remarkable about us. He tells us we are wonderfully made; we are his masterpiece. God places such an extraordinarily high value in us that that he gave his Son to die for our sins. In fact, he loves us so much that he wants a forever relationship with us. God doesn’t expect us to be perfect, instead he wants us to believe in him. Jesus came to save everyone, including the sinner, the broken, the poor, the lonely, and the helpless. He came to save you because you are worth it, and you are wonderfully made. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Don’t believe the lies of this world, instead believe in the truth!

Love God. Love each other!
