Advent is the four weeks leading up to Christmas that are traditionally set aside for preparation and anticipation of Christ’s birth. In our society, Christmas has been turned into a mad rush to the finish line. There’s never a dull moment between parties, holiday concerts, shopping, school programs, cookie exchanges, shopping, decorating and…well, shopping. Now in 2020, the journey into the 12 Days of Christmas can and must look different. This year we will use Walter Brueggemann’s book Celebrating Abundance: Devotions for Advent to embrace the slowing of the season and engage in Advent together.
HERE IS HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN ADVENT 2020:
- Get a copy of the book Celebrating Abundance: Devotions for Advent by Walter Brueggemann. Books are available for purchase online in paperback and Kindle format, or in the Crossroads atrium during a regular weekend service for $10. The daily readings begin on November 29.
- Tune in to the weekend experience online or in person on Thursdays at 6:30pm and Sundays at 9am and 11am.
