Live Out What God is Working in

January 22, 2018, By: Jimmy Scruggs

“My Grace is enough, it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (MSG)
There are a lot of reasons why Celebrate Recovery works, first and foremost is the fact that God is at the center. Second, the 12-step process really works. Third, we share the same struggles. If you stick around long enough, you will hear your story. You will find connections with people in recovery that share your particular struggle. No one can understand your predicament better than someone who has walked it themselves and found recovery in the process. As we humble ourselves before God we come to the realization that our journey through the hurt and chaos has a higher purpose than just our individual healing. We have entered a life long journey of becoming more Christ like. We begin to live a life of service to God by sharing our experience, strength and hope. We have so many new people coming to CR that there really isn’t any reason not to help someone. I truly believe that God never wastes a hurt; he will transform that hurt into a victory to be used to help others. You can’t keep recovery all to yourself; if you do then you don’t have recovery, you have something else. Whatever God is putting in us we have to share that with others. God has given us the gift of grace and we must share this gift with one another. Don’t quit before the miracle happens. You will have up and down days, but in all days lean on Christ Jesus and each other to help you through. I get asked a lot how I’ve managed to stay sober for the last 32 years. My answer is to put Jesus first in your life, work the 12 steps of Celebrate Recovery, attend a church and stay focused on what you need to do today. One day at a time after one day at a time. If you keep one foot in yesterday and the other in tomorrow, you will miss today and the opportunity to change for the better. Love God, love people, Jesus first!
