Giants

February 27, 2017, By: Jimmy Scruggs

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1
I listened to a David and Goliath message at church over the weekend and of course I thought; boy, how many giants have I had in my life and how did I ever to overcome them. The first thought that comes to mind is the reality that I couldn’t slay the giants by myself and thinking that I could just made my life worse. In Celebrate Recovery the giants are the hurts, hang-ups and habits that have overtaken our lives. We begin to learn that we can’t overcome our giants with the same thinking that got us in trouble in the first place. Nothing changes if nothing changes. If we were to have any success in overcoming our giants we had to learn to think and believe in a different way. Anything less would be an exercise in insanity. In other words, if we don’t put God first in our lives and start to believe he can do for us what we can’t do for ourselves we are doomed to repeat the same old behaviors and mistakes. God isn’t just in our lives today; he has our back and our future as well. If you are facing a giant in your life, give God the control and believe he is bigger than any problem you have-Thank you Pastor John for reminding us of how great our God is. Love God, love people, Jesus first! Dana Cramer
